Nursery Update!

Update:
I finished installing the branches and hung the tissue paper garland in the girl's room! I have to say, I am really pleased with how the whole room came together. A couple of friends asked me to post some pictures of their room and explain the whole process.

This was my vision in pictures:
In the above picture I went with a gray and cream stripe rug. I liked that it added pattern but was still neutral enough to grow with the girl's as their style changes. The crib and changing table are a classic design and look vintage, which is what I was going for.

I had this awesome piece of art from a friend that added a great
graphic element to the wall above the changing table. The black and cream was
neutral and matched any colors we added to the room.

I found some prints that I loved that added a pop of color using pink, coral and
gray/black. The bicycle for two is perfect for 2 of the 3 girls that share the room.

I choose pink, coral and gray tissue paper poms. I love the color combo
and it pulled the colors from the art work and gray rug. This simple installation
added the perfect touch of whimsy to the nursery.

Adding little accents with a nod to nature tied in our branch installation.
This tree ring chalk board I made hangs on simple jute rope.
Of course it wouldn't be a vintage chic room without an old olive picking
basket to hold stuffed animals made from recycled bottles!
Get creative with storage! A metal pale with a chalkboard label serves
as a book bucket, but can be used for anything.

My first blog post in a looooooooooooooooong time! Not sure when I will have a moment for another one soon, but we'll see. The girls are having down time watching baby Einstein!

I have found a decorating material I never thought I would use as chic décor in my babies (plural, yes because I have triplets) nursery. Tissue paper. That's right! I first got the idea from The Land of Nod catalog, pictured above. When I started looking into tissue paper garland to hang from the branch I want to install in their room I came upon a ton of different styles and colors. Your imagination can really run wild!

I found big pom poms I want to use at perhaps their 1st birthday party. They are just too fun and add an element of whimsy! Mix them with party lights and you are good to go:)

There are plenty of DYI garlands you can make or check out Etsy for more custom looks, like tassel garland. Martha Stewart has pom pom kits at Michael's Craft Store ready to take home and assemble.

I have to get back...it's tummy time!
